London-based filmmaker Eddie Whelan began making experimental films and music in Athens, Georgia, under the name 'Eddie the Wheel'. His almost decade-long connection with the fashion industry was sparked off when he came to the attention of photographer David Sims. Eddie and Sims formed a close collaborative relationship and worked together on projects for Alexander McQueen, Proenza Schouler, Jil Sander and Arena Homme+ magazine.
Eddie's approach to form, texture and the filmmaking process itself produces highly original and evocative work. His multidisciplinary approach sees him working across stills, video and sound on multiple formats, both independently and on a collaborative basis. Eddie treats each project on its own terms, tailoring his technical and creative choices to fully realise the spirit of every commission.
Recent clients include Maison Margiela, Gucci, Miu Miu, Loewe, Stella McCartney, Pangaia, H&M, Proenza Schouler, Tommy Hilfiger, Joseph, M.A.C. Cosmetics, Versus Versace, Sportmax, Khaite, Shoreditch Ski Club, Anar Mar Jonsson and All Saints. Editorially, Eddie regularly contributes to System magazine, AnOther magazine, POP magazine, Dazed and Confused, LOVE magazine and Replica magazine.
